Jon's House



This is a house painting commission I did from a photograph the client gave me. Many house paintings I see look like they came off an architectural drafting table - or a CAD software program. I wanted to give the house some real personality - like real people with colorful lives live there. I found out they had a cat, so I added that. Then I thought, why not put in a halloween pumpkin to go with the black cat. It added a nice spot of color to go with the fall leaves.

    Patti, this painting is exquisite--just the right amount of looseness. I love it. And it does not look like a photograph.

    Thanks, Gretchen and Jerry. When I work from photos - (especially with full length people in them) - i do a lot of changing things around so that it doesn't look like just transcribed a photo. glad you like it.

    Patti, Love all your work...but this house just got to me. It is sort of like where I grew up and hase those bones. I am trying to paint everyday too. You are an inspiration to me!

    Beautiful, with or without the pumpkin and cat. Lots of character in the house, I am sure the owner loves it.
